And shoveling tons of snow is fine exercise, just as good as water skiing!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"dropcap\">W<\/span><br \/>\nash your bowl, spoon, mug.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/olagjeilo\/the-lake-isle?in=katrinak-3\/sets\/listening\"><strong>Turn up the music<\/strong><\/a> till it fills the rafters. Notice how gratitude gives rise to joy.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">Call your sister-in-law in Minneapolis, just home from the hospital with a new hip. \u00a0Hear the relief in her voice: soon she&#8217;ll walk again, and step out into her \u00a0backyard and fill her bird feeder with seeds. \u00a0Dash outside with a scoop of sunflower seeds for your own hungry\u00a0<\/span>chickadees<span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">. \u00a0Thank your hips for making this possible.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Dress for the weather: wool socks, long underwear, polar fleece pants, down coat, hat, the scarf Margaret sent you made from patched-together old sweaters, the Christmas mittens from your sister-in-law, also stitched from old sweaters.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3404 aligncenter\" alt=\"IMG_3834\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.katrinakenison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/IMG_3834-450x306.jpg?resize=450%2C306\" width=\"450\" height=\"306\" \/><span class=\"dropcap\">S<\/span><br \/>\nmile: you are an anti-fashion statement swathed in polar fleece and sweater scraps, reclaimed pieces of other lives, other mornings, other peoples old warm clothes.<\/p>\n<p>Lace up your boots, zip your L.L. Bean coat, buckle on your snowshoes.\u00a0 Go.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3405 aligncenter\" alt=\"IMG_3679\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.katrinakenison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/IMG_3679-450x337.jpg?resize=450%2C337\" width=\"450\" height=\"337\" \/><span class=\"dropcap\">E<\/span><br \/>\nnter the cathedral of silence.
